  • Not a Ricoh customer? That’s ok too. Read on for details on Win10 end-of-life and what to expect. If you’d like help with the shift to Win11, we’re here. Let’s talk.

What is EOL for Windows 10?

End-of-life means that Microsoft will end support for Win10, no longer providing free software updates, security patches/fixes, and technical assistance for its Windows 10 operating system (OS).

As noted at the start, the EOL date is scheduled for October 14, 2025.

Can you still use Windows 10 after an EOL date?

Yes, however, without the updates, especially security updates, your devices may be less secured, creating concerns regarding compliance and data security. Application compatibility could also become an issue.

What are the benefits of upgrading to Windows 11?

As the latest evolution of the Windows OS, Win11 continues Microsoft’s efforts to simplify the user experience (UX), protect information, and offer better integrations with peripheral devices like printers and MFPs and with software applications. Win11 users can expect:

  • Enhanced security. As the newest Win OS, it is also the most secured, including features like advanced encryption, data protection, and safeguards against evolving threats.

  • Productivity boosters .A new, intuitive interface makes multitasking easier, organizing your work more straightforward, and completing tasks simpler.

  • A new, immersive experience. Built for improved performance, Win11 offers a sleek design and better integrations, connecting you with greater ease.

Why act now?

There are a lot of good reasons not to wait.

  • Avoid last minute headaches, or worse. While Microsoft has created as seamless an upgrade process as possible, there are always issues that can arise. By completing the upgrade now, you won’t be concerned about compliance or security risks at the EOL date.

  • Less stress for team members, and the IT staff. Last-minute upgrades force employees to face change in a more pressured environment, creating stress. A well-planned roll-out allows employees to be prepared and ready.

  • Business as usual keeps people productive. Employees are accustomed to PC updates and often can schedule them into what fits their schedules. Giving team members options for the upgrade allows for seamless efficiency.

  • It’s already May. Depending on the size of your business, planning at this point might have you already pushing up to the EOL date.

  • You might need to upgrade hardware. Older PCs may need to be upgraded or replaced. Better to know that you need hardware updates now, rather than to find out at the last minute, especially with potential questions around hardware availability.

  • Why even create a compliance risk?

Using supported tech is essential for compliance with customers, vendors, and partners.

  • IT resources may be limited. IT services firms expect to be busy as support requests increase.
