Challenge

The in-house print shop of Katy Independent School District (ISD) had limited capacity and outdated technology.

As a result, turnaround times could be three to four weeks. Teachers lost confidence in the shop and began outsourcing work to other print vendors, even though it cost much more than the in-house rates.

Results

Confidence is restored in the print shop, and the volume proves it: more than 4 million impressions a month now, compared to the previous 1.5 million. Better yet, 99% of their printing is done in-house, whereas previously 80% was outsourced. In a recent school year, Katy ISD saved $350,000.
