Like many production print providers around for decades, offset printing was the foundation on which Sir Speedy, Springdale, Arkansas was built. Printing letterhead, envelopes and business cards was the norm. But as the printing industry transformed, it began transitioning from slower, commodity-driven offset printing to faster, lower cost and more flexible digital printing systems that could help printers foster long-term relationships with clients. As Sir Speedy planned to become an all-digital shop and upgrade their wide format printing capabilities, they began to explore their options for new equipment.

"I hadn't thought of Ricoh as a serious contender in the production equipment realm. I was immediately impressed."

As Sir Speedy searched for a partner to upgrade their digital wide format print capabilities, quality and speed were at the top of the company's wish list. But most manufacturers were unable to deliver both. Sir Speedy's management company, Franchise Services, Inc. (FSI), nudged them toward Ricoh and our partnership took off.

For large-format sign printing — which accounted for 30 percent of Sir Speedy's business — we provided our Mimaki JFX200 flatbed printer, which brought the wow-factor: the ability to print at production speeds with high point-of-sale quality.

The JFX200 printer also lowers the company's ink and labor costs by reducing the multi-step processes required with their previous eco-solvent wide-format equipment. It prints on substrates up to two-inches thick and handles a variety of applications, such as backlit displays and signage, posters, interior decor, glass and metal decorative panels.
