Case Study: Katy Independent School District

Restoring confidence in the in-house print shop with Managed Print Services

The in-house print shop of Katy Independent School District (ISD) had limited capacity and outdated technology. As a result, turnaround times could be three to four weeks. Teachers lost confidence in the shop and began outsourcing work to other print vendors, even though it cost much more than the in-house rates.

We conducted an upfront assessment to identify the reasons why Katy ISD couldn't complete projects in a timely manner.

Armed with this information, we implemented:

With new workflows and our managed services, the Katy ISD print shop offers 48-hour turnaround time from job submission to completion.

Confidence is restored in the print shop, and the volume proves it: more than 4 million impressions a month now, compared to the previous 1.5 million. Better yet, 99% of their printing is done in-house, whereas previously 80% was outsourced. In a recent school year, Katy ISD saved $350,000.
