As full-scale broadband era approaches, there is a growing need for a seamless communication environment, in which we are able to flexibly handle documents. One of the most important issues is the easy exchange of documents regardless of information system, network equipment, data location, or data format. We solved this issue with the Ricoh Document Highway concept, a product of Ricoh’s foresight and innovativeness.
This concept is a reflection of Ricoh’s drive as a document solution provider in a broadband era. Taking future trends in technology into consideration, Ricoh is establishing a general-purpose platform to provide relevant equipment and solutions. Ricoh’s Document Highway platform integrates the architectures (basic structures) of equipment and applications, from input, distribution, storage, and retrieval to the output of documents, and creates a seamless flow through an integrated interface. Accordingly, Ricoh is able to provide customers with an environment in which data can be easily handled by simply connecting office equipment and applications to a network.
Ricoh Document Highway platform applies the idea of a highway for documents running on a network. It is a compilation of image communications technologies that Ricoh has nurtured. It is also an open infrastructure that adopts current industrial standards and general-purpose technologies. Thus, customers can always rely on Ricoh products.
The first products to be based on this platform included the Aficio MFP/Color/Printer series and Ricoh’s original solution products, which already had a good reputation and high status. Ricoh is planning to introduce a variety of new products and establish a complete lineup of imaging equipment. In this way, Ricoh continues to provide customers with the most appropriate document solutions for the approaching full-scale broadband era.
