RICOH INTRODUCES PERSONAL PAPERLESS DOCUMENT MANAGER
West Caldwell, NJ, January 25, 2011 - Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment and advanced document management solutions and services, today announced the launch of the next generation of its Personal Paperless Document Manager (PPDMv2). Equipped with more robust and dynamic features, PPDMv2 software converts scanned paper documents into electronic files and routes them to any destination via custom workflows created from a desktop computer. PPDMv2 can accommodate Ricoh, Savin and Lanier branded products.
PPDMv2 software provides a comprehensive platform that integrates seamlessly with Ricoh multifunction products (MFPs) to capture, combine, convert and share documents regardless of the original format. PPDMv2 manages three largely incompatible formats paper documents, PDFs and Microsoft® Office files from a desktop application. Users can conveniently access workflows at a MFP to improve productivity and reduce costs.
“In today’s economy, it’s all about producing more at a lower cost,” said Shun Sato, senior vice president, Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “PPDMv2 provides every employee within an organization state-of-the-art technology that escalates productivity at all levels of the document lifecycle, not just at the multifunction product but at each desktop.”
News features include the ability to:
•Assemble documents with unprecedented ease by simply dragging and dropping source files or individual pages from those files — XPS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, JPG, BMP, TIF— to automatically convert them to a PDF.
•Energize conventional PDF documents with applications, audio or video files, including Adobe® Flash® or Microsoft® Silverlight® multimedia content or transform paper and PDF files into WAV audio files.
•Change, edit and mark up PDFs quickly and easily without the need for separate software applications.
•Easily create searchable PDF files, turn paper forms into PDF or Microsoft Word forms that can be edited or filled, and extract data from filled PDF or printed forms into spreadsheets or databases.
•Supported by Microsoft SharePoint, PPDMv2 allows users to send or retrieve scanned files from SharePoint servers with a few clicks. In addition, files can easily be converted into a readable format for the Amazon Kindle®.
•Capture text from a document by using a digital camera or smartphone which is then converted into a text file. PPDMv2 features unique 3D Correction technology that automatically compensates for skew and distortion that can appear when taking a photo.
•The Looks Like Search™ quickly locates content with phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, and more via alphanumeric pattern rather than exact text. The Looks Like Search™ allows you to automatically highlight, redact, underline, or cross-out search results for fast, easy document review and editing.
