Promotion Highlights Increased Significance of Solution Technologies Across Ricoh’s Business

West Caldwell, NJ, November 24, 2008 - Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced the promotion of Mark Minshull to vice president and chief technologist. In this newly created role, Minshull will oversee Ricoh’s solution technology vision across all business units. Minshull will also continue to serve as vice president of Ricoh Americas Corporation’s Technology Center, which supports major-account sales activities and software product development in the Americas.
“Mark has been instrumental in helping Ricoh achieve its technology goals over the past decade,” said Hede Nonaka, executive vice president, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “As Ricoh continues its transformation from an office equipment hardware vendor to a true solutions provider, Mark’s expertise and enthusiasm will help drive the next generation of innovation for our customers.”
Minshull joined Ricoh America Corporation in 2004, after working with a subsidiary company, Ricoh Silicon Valley (RSV). At RSV he led the successful launch of Ricoh's eCabinet™, a first-of-kind open source-based content management appliance. He also oversaw the development of the first version of Ricoh’s industry-leading Java™ Embedded Software Architecture (ESA) platform.
In addition to his responsibilities for Ricoh Americas Corporation, he also serves as deputy general manager, Document Solutions Development Center of Ricoh Americas Corporation's parent company, Ricoh Company, Ltd.
Before joining Ricoh in 1997, Mark spent nearly nine years at Apple, Inc., where he had engineering management responsibility for the majority of the user interface layers of the Macintosh OS. In addition, he led the development of the OpenDoc component software architecture and Apple's highly regarded scripting environment, AppleScript.
Prior to Apple, Minshull launched and managed a Silicon Valley-based software consulting corporation, Metasys Engineering, Inc. Additionally, he's held managerial and research positions at GM-Hughes Electronics, General Research and the Santa Barbara Research Center.
