RICOH’S DOCUMENTMALL SOLUTION PROVIDES DOCUMENT SECURITY AND ORGANIZATION FOR SALESFORCE.COM USERS


West Caldwell, NJ, October 22, 2008 - Ricoh Americas Corporation, recognized globally for its environmental commitment, today announced the internal deployment of their software as a service (SaaS) document storage and management solution, DocumentMall with salesforce.com, the market leader in SaaS and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). Studies have shown that SaaS solutions such as DocumentMall for salesforce.com provide significant reductions in energy consumption by utilizing computing resources much more efficiently than traditional on-premise solutions.

DocumentMall for salesforce.com implementation at Ricoh’s nationwide direct sales offices will realize these savings as well as reductions in paper and toner consumption in addition to fuel use associated with shipping documents overnight. This solution provides business process improvements resulting from immediate access to information through online document management.

Ricoh will showcase the DocumentMall for saleforce.com solution at salesforce.com’s user and developer conference, Dreamforce, on November 2 – 5, 2008 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, CA.

The DocumentMall for salesforce.com integration puts Ricoh’s leading digital imaging technology and SaaS document management solution, DocumentMall, inside salesforce.com to deliver a more cost effective and secure way of storing confidential documents. Ricoh sales representatives can scan important paper documents such as signed contracts, agreements, proposals, and others directly into DocumentMall.com and access them through Salesforce. They can also upload electronic files associated with their opportunities as well as scanned paper documents, enabling them to respond faster and improve decision-making.

A Ricoh survey of Salesforce users found that most companies still store and maintain important sales documents in hardcopy format creating a disconnect in the sales and business processes. The survey revealed that integrating secure document storage and scanning capabilities would deliver sales process improvements, increased security, and organizational-wide cost savings.

With DocumentMall for salesforce.com, users enjoy point and click access to additional functionality from the opportunities tab such as the ability to create barcode coversheets that are placed on documents for scanning. Using compatible Ricoh MFPs with built-in authentication to the salesforce.com account, users can scan documents over the Internet via a secure connection directly to the Salesforce opportunity in one simple step. The barcode coversheet contains information that routes the documents to the appropriate opportunity. DocumentMall for salesforce.com users are also able to import electronic documents directly into the opportunity.

DocumentMall for salesforce.com was developed in Visualforce, Salesforce’s latest programming language designed specifically for AppExchange application development. Taking full advantage of the logic and workflow intelligence of Apex, Visualforce offers the flexibility to meet the requirements of applications designed for many different types of uses on a variety of devices. The integration extends the benefits of Salesforce and DocumentMall by combining on-demand customer relationship management with on-demand document management.
