Apr 20 - RICOH PARTICIPARÁ EN ‘DRUPA 2016’ CON SUS SOLUCIONES DE HARDWARE, SOFTWARE Y SERVICIOS PARA EL SECTOR DE ARTES GRÁFICAS.

February 2016

(HIMSS 2016, Booth #7599),– Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced Ricoh Electronic Data Exchange (Ricoh EDE), a subscription based service that helps improve the overall patient experience by transferring protected data, including clinical photography and images, to an intended destination. This workflow solution enables healthcare facilities to capture, store and manage protected information, whether structured or unstructured, within an Electronic Health Record (EHR) or enterprise content management (ECM) system. Ricoh EDE, helps providers eliminate tedious manual image transfers, image identification and human error – ultimately boosting overall accuracy, efficiency and productivity.

Within the Acute Care market, facilities now have a need to implement new and emerging protocols, integrate various disparate systems and architectures, and uncover new ways to excel in today’s changing business and regulatory environment. Ricoh EDE helps facilities address these needs. The capturing of the information can begin at a multifunction product (MFP), cameras used in clinical areas such as wound care and dermatology, or even an interactive whiteboard. Traditionally, it was required to manually transfer the data captured via these devices and then store in a desired location. Yet with Ricoh EDE, this transfer process is managed through Ricoh’s workflow server and delivered to an EHR and/or ECM based on the direction of the physician or administrator validating the data.

“Helping facilities transform the way they work by improving efficiencies and boosting secure workflow capabilities are top priorities for our team – and the development of Ricoh Electronic Data Exchange is a direct result of this goal,” said Ron Nielson, Vice President, Healthcare, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “We often see healthcare organizations taking disconnected approaches to capturing content. Ricoh EDE brings a new level of efficiency while speeding up the file transport process for documents and images alike, helping to find even more ways to make information work better for providers and their patients.”

According to a recent IDC Health Insights study commissioned by Ricoh, only 10 percent of healthcare organizations enable document capture using cameras on smartphones and tablets. Added to this, more than 80 percent of hospitals report opportunities to more tightly integrate workflows. Ricoh EDE helps providers address these challenges from start-to-finish, connecting the needed workflow components to help ensure a more efficient flow of information.

Demonstration of the Ricoh EDE offering will be available in the Ricoh booth (#7599) at HIMSS 2016. Ricoh will showcase technologies that address challenges hospitals face in creating a secure, compliant environment that enables connected care while remaining administratively efficient. Feb 24 - RICOH HELPS HEALTHCARE FACILITIES BETTER CAPTURE, STORE AND MANAGE PROTECTED DATA WITH LATEST WORKFLOW SOLUTION  News pressrelease also available in pdf
(HIMSS 2016, Booth #7599) – Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced the release of its Asset Lifecycle Management for Healthcare offering, a solution that helps hospitals simplify the management of print and other IT managed devices, while helping identify compliance risks. This new solution leverages Information-as-a-Service offerings from Symphion, Inc. designed for Print, IT and Compliance. By utilizing Asset Lifecycle Management for Healthcare’s automated scanning, device discovery, and predictive analytics, IT management can make more informed decisions that can help reduce device, labor and other IT costs, while at the same time manage the risks of ever evolving infrastructure.

“At its core, the healthcare industry serves to protect the most vulnerable from harm,” said Ron Nielson, Vice President, Healthcare, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “For Ricoh this means protecting patients’ private information and helping to ensure that our customers have security safeguards in place to meet HIPAA and HITECH regulations. With our Asset Lifecycle Management for Healthcare, hospitals are now equipped with enterprise-wide, constantly updated information about their hardware and software assets to make quick and accurate decisions to keep their technology in good health.”

Hospitals are challenged with improving efficiencies and reducing costs while striving to comply with federal mandates associated with HIPAA compliance and meaningful use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The ability to seamlessly capture, transform and manage patient and business data across departments with secure IT ecosystems can improve care coordination and clinical processes, driving business efficiencies, profitability and meaningful use. In fact, a recent IDC study commissioned by Ricoh showed that capturing, transforming and managing data has a positive impact on hospitals’ revenue (66.7%) and profitability (58.6%). Ricoh’s Asset Lifecycle Management for Healthcare improves hospitals’ information mobility by enabling their IT departments to identify critical asset information and make faster, more informed IT, compliance and print-related decisions.

Ricoh’s Asset Lifecycle Management for Healthcare benefits hospitals with new capabilities, including:

•	Software toolset and agentless asset scanning that identifies and reports on hardware and software issues on a hospital’s network, reducing time required to manually track and confirm information and improving transparency for decision-makers.
•	A dedicated “concierge team” of experts who deliver the expertise, services and support for the term of the service as an extension of the provider’s team, through regular systematic analyzed reporting, on demand reporting and automated monitoring and alerts that allow providers to adapt to challenges, as they arise, and ongoing needs.
•	A systematic, enterprise-wide assessment process that collects and analyzes information about print assets and service, IT inventories, configurations and operations and vulnerabilities in a Windows fleet to help reduce system downtime that could potentially impact patients’ quality of care.
•	A comprehensive, three-pillar approach comprising IT, compliance and print information to help ensure nothing in these key areas falls through the cracks.
•	Streamlined and automated reporting on software titles to help ensure only software that is needed and being used is ordered or gets a license extension, which can help reduce compliance risk and overall IT spending for the hospital.
•	Reporting on and management of print devices and analysis of print costs, usage and uptime trends to help optimize print processes and reduce costs.
•	Automatic capture of network asset information to reduce manual tasks.

Ricoh Asset Lifecycle Management for Healthcare will be on display in the Ricoh booth (#7599) at HIMSS 2016. Ricoh will showcase technologies that address challenges hospitals face in creating a secure, compliant environment that enables connected care while remaining administratively efficient. Feb 24 - RICOH STREAMLINES IT ASSET MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING FOR HOSPITALS, ENABLING INFORMED DECISION-MAKING AND MORE EFFICIENT DEVICE USE TO REDUCE COSTS  News pressrelease also available in pdf
Ricoh has recently achieved landmark milestones in its commitment to finding new, innovative ways to enhance a more sustainable future. These quantifiable actions, such as reducing its energy emissions by the equivalent of the carbon emissions from 6,500 passenger vehicles, demonstrate Ricoh’s dedication to continuously finding ways to improve lives and sustain our planet. In fact, Ricoh* has reduced its energy use emissions to a level that is now less than they were in 2010 while also activating other environmental corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

“Ricoh is committed to enhancing our environmental sustainability and impacting a more sustainable society as our new world of work evolves,” said Martin Brodigan, Chairman and CEO, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “The way we work today has changed from that of just five years ago – and a big part of that change is how organizations address sustainability. Ricoh has been dedicated to improving sustainability for 40 years, and we are proud to take this expertise and leverage it to help our customers reach their sustainability goals. It’s a cultural focus that we are extremely proud of, and one that we are continuing to see make a true impact on our society both locally and internationally.”

Ranging from international efforts such as being named the official partner of the United Nation’s COP21’s climate conference, to U.S. activities including supporting the White House’s American Business Act on Climate pledge and local accomplishments including the Wildlife at Work biodiversity conservation certification, Ricoh’s dedication to contributing to advancements in environmental sustainability is front and center. Recent activities, milestones and pledges that support Ricoh’s efforts include:

•	Ricoh is committed to reducing the total lifecycle CO2 emissions of the Ricoh Group by 30% by 2020 and by 87.5% by 2050 from year 2000 levels. In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015, Ricoh achieved a successful decrease of 35.8%.

•	Wildlife at Work certification – In November 2015, the Wildlife Habitat Council(SM) awarded Ricoh with its Conservation Certification which recognizes corporate conservation efforts. Ricoh’s West Caldwell, NJ office’s Pollinator Gardens has been a constant staple at the facility since April 2012 when WHC biologists surveyed the property. From the fall of 2013, a dedicated team of Ricoh employees, all seeking to help build a more sustainable environment volunteered to plant, monitor, water and weed the garden.

•	Ricoh has joined the U.S. EPA SmartWay® Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry that provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods movement supply chain. As a member of this program, Ricoh will contribute to the Partnership’s savings of 144.3 million barrels of oil, $20.6 billion in fuel costs, 61.7 MMT of carbon dioxide, 1,070,000 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 43,000 tons of particulate matter, the equivalent of taking 13 million cars off of the road.

•	Ricoh has been recognized as an outstanding company in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) through CDP, the international NPO that drives sustainable economies. This recognition demonstrates that Ricoh comprehensively discloses information such as the calculation and management of emissions, climate change strategy, and the process and the results of risk management.

•	In the U.S., Ricoh joined other businesses and consumers to celebrate ENERGY STAR Day, which recognizes the commitment to save energy and protect the planet. The company encouraged employees, customers, partners and family members to take a pledge to reduce carbon emissions. As a result, Ricoh secured nearly 1,400 pledges, one of the top contributors to the overall ENERGY STAR campaign.

•	Green Excellence in Partnership award recipient – The Coalition for Government Procurement named Ricoh the winner of its prestigious Green Excellence in Partnership award in October 2015. This program recognizes individuals in the procurement community who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to improving the federal acquisition system.

•	All Ricoh manufacturing and production sites worldwide are certified ISO 14001 for their environmental management system.

•	Ricoh has been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for three years in a row, obtaining the industry best score in four categories: "Innovation Management," "Privacy Protection," "Environmental Policy/Management System" and "Climate Strategy."

•	Ricoh has been featured in the FTSE4Good Index for the past 11 years.

•	Ricoh has started a forest ecosystem conservation project in Mexico which is expected to spur the recovery of the wetland ecosystem, mitigate the damage caused by natural disasters, and improve the lives of local residents.

Ricoh’s Long History of Commitment to Achieving Enhanced Sustainability

Ricoh has been a dedicated advocate to supporting the development of a more sustainable society for 40 years when Ricoh announced the establishment of its Environmental Promotion Section in 1976.

Ricoh has strived to achieve a balance between the Planet (the environment), People (society) and Profit (economic activities). To achieve this goal, the Ricoh Group follows a number of activities to reduce the environmental impact on the planet exercised by resource extraction, energy use or the release of chemicals, and participates in activities to protect biodiversity.

Feb 23 - COMMITTED TO REDUCING CLIMATE CHANGE, RICOH DELIVERS QUANTIFIABLE MILESTONES AIMED TO ENHANCE A MORE SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY.  News pressrelease also available in pdf
Innovation practices are found to be a critical component of achieving strategic business outcomes, yet new research identifies that while 70% of companies characterize themselves as above average innovators (Performers and Leaders), only 14% are actually seeing meaningful business impact from those practices.

According to the findings of an IDC study commissioned by Ricoh, the factors that define true innovation leadership are often confused and misconceptions on what innovation actually is are common.

IDC and Ricoh uncovered that innovation is more than simply disruptive product development - it contributes to a broad range of business areas. Innovation leaders use innovation to better serve customers and find it essential to every aspect of the business with the largest percentage of respondents saying it’s important to information technology (54%) and customer service/support (51%) than product development (45%).

“Many senior executives are simply not making the hard choices needed to enable innovation leadership,” said Crawford Del Prete, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Research Products & Chief Research Officer, IDC. “Innovation is not just about producing new products, but rather about taking risks both in business processes and R&D investment. True innovation leaders understand that growth is dependent on this type of comprehensive approach.”

Investing for Innovation Success – Surprising Findings
The research delivered many surprising findings that had a correlation to how companies decide to invest in achieving innovation success. Examples of these findings include:

•	Innovation is about more than being disruptive: all disruptors innovate, but not all innovators disrupt. While innovation can be about creating entirely new concepts, products, and business models and therefore disrupting existing markets, it can also be about improving existing processes, products, and operations. For example, companies that make enterprise search software available to all employees who need it had 33% higher three-year revenue growth, 70% higher profit margin, and 41% more revenue from new products than companies that do not.

•	Innovative leaders focus their R&D efforts more on blue sky projects than non-innovators (29% vs 18%), yet spend less on R&D (5%) than laggards.

•	Innovation leaders use information technology to support their innovation efforts at a much higher rate than other companies. Investing in the right mix of technologies to optimize business processes and improve the way an organization works is key. ItFeb 17 - INNOVATION LEADERSHIP – IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK  News pressrelease also available in pdf
Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced that VISOgraphic Inc., an Illinois-based commercial and digital print provider, has further expanded its move into the digital print space by adding RICOH Pro C9110 platforms to its operation. Traditionally a lithographics-based facility, VISOgraphic ventured into the digital print industry more than five years ago and has a long history of utilizing Ricoh’s offerings to help meet the needs of their end customers.

“From the beginning, Ricoh has exceeded our expectations. In fact, we are so pleased with the quality of their products that I now recommend them to my industry peers,” said Bob Dahlke Jr., Principal of VISOgraphic. “The Ricoh team really listens to our needs and offers a level of service that goes beyond just maintenance calls. Added to this level of trust, I knew immediately that the RICOH Pro C9110 could be a game changer thanks to its high volume production, color capabilities and versatility. I am looking forward to hearing more positive response from our customers to this latest addition, and to our continued partnership with Ricoh.”

VISOgraphic has been in business since 1946 providing quality graphic design and printing to Chicago area businesses, with a specific focus on direct mail projects. A full art studio has allowed them to provide personalized artwork and photography in addition to layout and design. In the last seven years, the company began utilizing digital printers to complement their lithographic print business and expand their offerings. VISOgraphic’s customers are open to either platform, as long as the work is produced in a timely fashion, delivers high quality results and remains cost effective. Since installing the RICOH Pro C9110, the company can now run longer duty cycle jobs on heavier stocks in a shorter amount of time with absolutely no compromise in quality.

With speeds of up to 130 pages per minute (ppm) and the ability to print on media up to 400 gsm, the RICOH Pro C9110 delivers high-quality output, increased productivity and reliability at prices much lower than what is available today. In a market previously limited to more expensive offerings, the RICOH Pro C9110 enables companies like VISOgraphic to transition jobs to a digital press without compromising quality and actually improving turnaround times.

“Our relationship with VISOgraphic is a perfect example of how Ricoh helps companies transition smoothly into digital with zero disruption to their customers,” said John Fulena, Vice President, Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “As the second U.S. installation of the RICOH Pro C9110, in VISOgraphic we saw a way to blend old and new printing practices with no interruption to their existing workflow. As they continue to build-out their digital portfolio, we’re confident our ongoing collaboration will result in exceeding customers’ expectations, improving efficiencies, decreasing costs and extending their market reach.”

The new RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D6500 features a 65-inch HD TouchPanel display and a bevy of collaboration features that are ideal for larger meetings across multiple locations. Users can easily manage, mark up and share documents and other content during meetings whether using their finger, the optional pen, or the intuitive tablet app, enabling them to more quickly and effectively manage and transform dynamic content.

As the demand to get more done in meetings increases, Ricoh’s new interactive flat panel display (IFPD) is a powerful tool to make meetings more productive. The RICOH D6500 expands Ricoh’s product line, building on the collaboration features of the current RICOH D5510, and can host up to 400 attendees via 20 connected IFPDs and 20 connected devices – including laptops, tablets, and projectors. Using the RICOH IWB app for iPad, attendees can participate in a remote meeting session that is being held on the RICOH D6500, along with viewing, drawing, erasing, adding and switching pages of the remote display from an iPad. These rich features not only unlock the power of information, but they can also save time spent traveling to attend meetings in person.”
