Resource Conservation and Recycling - De-manufacturing
Recovering 95% of Material Content
When used machines are returned to the manufacturer at the end of their useful service life, they are sent to our recycling centers in the U.S. and Canada. Using state of the art de-manufacturing systems, our facilities have increased the recovery rate from an average 30-60% to 95%. Our used machines are processed, reduced and separated into clean commodity streams of mild steel, aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, plastics and precious metals.
Ricoh has standardized the plastic materials it uses and labels the kind of material and grade of each part. This allows plastic parts to be quickly sorted by grade, which is necessary to avoid the quality compromises inherent in mixing plastic types. The recycling centers disassemble the products and sort out the parts that are to be reused. The remaining plastics are graded, crushed and sent to subcontractors to be used in the manufacture of parts for Ricoh products.
